I'm Katie Thompson, and I started Versed because I know what it's like to run an organization and its back office at the same time.

I spent eight years in nonprofit operations, eventually serving as Interim Executive Director. I handled the budgets, the grant reporting, the payroll and the policies, often all in the same week. I learned that most small organizations don't struggle because the people running them aren't capable. They struggle because nobody has time to build the systems that would make the work easier.

I've built my bookkeeping career at a tax and law firm, leading month-end close, multi-state payroll and the workflows and automations behind a high-volume practice.

Versed brings those two halves together. I help owner-led businesses get clear on their numbers, run their operations more smoothly and replace manual work with systems that run on their own. I especially love working with women-founded, women-run and minority-owned businesses, the kinds of owners who are building something meaningful and deserve a real partner behind the scenes.

I'm based in North Carolina and work with clients remotely.
